GSDI Technical Working Group
This is the homepage of the GSDI technical working group. We also support the Technical Working Group Discussion List. If you would like to join the working group, fill out the registration information to join the discussion list and the chair of the working group will be in contact.
As established by the GSDI Bylaws:
The Technical Working Group provides continuous observation and review of technical issues affecting the development of local to global spatial data infrastructures. It develops and reports on technical topics essential to the creation of compatible spatial data infrastructures, explores technical standards issues, and disseminates technical reports, examples, case studies, and similar learning materials of interest to GSDI Association members.
There is a general recognition among organizations and agencies in nations across the globe of the need for a coordinated approach to national SDI Implementations to ensure some level of interoperability. Technical experts from nations with SDI Implementation programs currently underway are engaging in the continued development of an on-line implementation guide document (GSDI Cookbook) whose chapters cover essential topics in the creation of compatible Spatial Data Infrastructures. The implementation guide document reflects existing and prospective GSDI participant interests in common SDI implementation strategies through description of the essential technical aspects of the GSDI balanced by worked examples and relevant scenarios. International contributions to this effort reflect a coordinated commitment by participant organizations in the development of a cost-effective and non-duplicative approach to spatial data infrastructure development.
A current major focus of activity is the GSDI Geographic Gateway
