Social Events
The primary social events planned to date for conference registrants include the Opening Reception, Port of Spain at Night, and the Gala Banquet. More information on all of these will be forthcoming as arrangements are finalized.
Opening Reception

Dress: business casual, i.e. straight from the conference sessions
Description/Comments: Light meal and refreshments sponsored by Office of the Campus Principal, Professor Bridget Brereton.
Port of Spain at Night
Day/Date: Wednesday, 27 Feb 2008
Times: 19:30-22:00
Location: BP Pan Yard
Dress: informal, outside, shorts and a T-shirt would be fine
Description/Comments: Free transport is provided to the BP Steel Pan Yard where you have free admission, can take a pan lesson, enjoy a pan concert, and buy your own dinner and drinks (total under $20 US). The Steel Pan, made from oil drums, is one of the few musical instruments invented in the 20th century. Enjoy it in it's natural environment - The Pan Yard. Alternatively you may choose to enjoy dinner and Calypso music at the Mas Camp Pub and/or visit the St. James District. Find your own way back by taxi if you miss the departing buses at the Pan Yard. Gala Banquet
Day/Date: Thursday, 28 Feb 2008

Location: Hilton Hotel
Dress: coat and tie the usual but business casual may be fine as well
Description/Comments: The gala banquet features a sumptious meal at the Hilton, the conclusion of the charity auction, and music and performances from an internationally renowned local group that has toured extensively over the last two decades gaining rave reviews in most cities where they have performed. The banquet is sponsored by ESRI.
