The XXIV FIG International Congress 2010 is being held in Sydney Australia between 11 and 16 April. I will be attending this event along with other members of the Association.
The technical program for the Congress is large and diverse (http://www.fig.net/pub/fig2010/techprog.htm) and addresses many issues of relevance to the Association.
Spatially enabled society is the theme of the 2nd plenary session of the Congress and I will be making a presentation on behalf of the Association at the beginning of this session. In this presentation I will outline the steps being taken by the Association to help realize a spatially enabled society, and will emphasize the importance of coordination and collaboration between global institutions like the GSDI Association and FIG.
During the Congress I will invite delegates to join us at our GSDI 12 World Conference in Singapore between 19 and 22 October 2010 (http://www.gsdi.org/gsdiconf/gsdi12/). Our World Conference has the theme “Realising Spatially Enabled Societies”.
During the Congress I will also be signing a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between FIG and the GSDI Association.
I will report to you soon in President’s Corner on the outcomes of the FIG Congress.
