GSDI President, Bas Kok was an invited guest at the Conference in Poland on April 17th 2008, entitled: "The present and future role of national mapping services in the global spatial data infrastructure"




February 2008 - Bas Kok Becomes GSDI President

On February 24th 2008 in Trinidad, the Global Spatial Data Infrastructure Association (GSDI) Board of Directors elected Professor Bas Kok as President of the Association. Professor Kok replaces Jarmo Ratia of Finland who served as GSDI President for the previous term.




November 2007 - Seminar on Cadastres as a tool for Social Cohesion in Latin-America and Europe

Professor Bas Kok was a special guest at the Seminar on Cadastre in Latin America that took place in Lisbon, Portugal on November 26-30, 2007.

He presented examples of strong spatial data infrastructures around the world.

The GSDI association consists of a broad range of stake holders; government representatives, data producers, private companies, research institutes and universities all over the world. It has stimulated the development of Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDIs) around the world, with much success.

Since it's establishment in the nineties, the GSDI Association has focused on awareness building, capacity development and knowledge exchange among spatial organizations and specialists across the globe.
