I wouldn't normally pass on an announcement like this to this list but it appears there is a relatively urgent need for a high level consultant to work with a group coordinating spatial data that is being supplied from and being used by numerous international and U.S agencies in continuing efforts in Haiti. Most work of the consultant could be done from a distance but some travel to Miami is likely. Overview knowledge of various GIS, web standards, SDI standards, OGC standards, taxonomies/ontologies, etc. and the ability to make clear recommendations is desired.
The World Bank is calling for consultants to undertake GI/GIS/SDI investigations in South Korea and Brazil. Consult the following:

The morning of the opening day of the GSDI 12 conference (19 October 2010) is dedicated to concurrent workshop and tutorial offerings. GSDI 12 invites attendees to submit proposals for workshops and extended tutorials. Please note that all workshops and tutorials will be opened to all GSDI 12 conference attendees at no additional cost.

The International Geospatial Society is a new venture of the GSDI Association to establish and support an international community of individuals who are specialists or professionals with geospatial, spatial data infrastructure, GIS and related interests. The goal is to engage and enhance communications internationally among individuals that are actively involved in promoting, developing, or advancing spatial data infrastructure and affiliated concepts.
